Terre des Hommes Suisse is active in 10 countries, both internationally and in Switzerland. The international program aims to improve the living conditions of vulnerable children and young people through an approach combining access to education, protection and participation.

In 2019, Terre des Hommes Suisse reached 325,000 people, including 205,000 children and young people.

The integrated approach of Terre des Hommes Suisse combines actions in favour of the rights to education, protection and participation of children and young people. A child who can go to school is protected from violence and participates in the emergence of a sustainable world that respects children’s rights and will have a more dignified life.

In Switzerland, we have been running an awareness-raising programme with children and young people for almost 30 years in order to train future generations of responsible citizens.

Providing access to appropriate and quality educational opportunities for all children is the priority of Terre des Hommes Suisse.

We believe it is essential to give them the knowledge they need to build a more sustainable and solidarity-based future.

Protection

The protection of children and young people against discrimination, violence and exploitation guides all the actions of Terre des Hommes Suisse. The best informed children are the best protected.

PArticipation

Giving children and young people a voice, listening to their concerns, and taking them into account is a fundamental right of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The participation of children and young people is also an integral part of all Terre des Hommes Suisse’s actions.

The International Youth Council

Launched in 2018, the International Youth Council of Terre des Hommes Suisse is made of 25 young people aged 15 to 25 elected by their peers in Latin America, India, Africa and Switzerland.

These young people are all agents of change committed to the defence of children’s rights in the field.

Integrated into the governance of Terre des Hommes Suisse at local and international level, the young people share their experiences, learn and carry the voices of children and young people in their own countries and before international bodies.
